Applied Behavior Analysis
Applied Behavior Analysis
Applied Behavior Analysis has been demonstrated to be effective within a full range of areas including (but not limited to);
- autism spectrum disorders,
- mental health diagnoses,
- gerontology, education,
- traumatic brain injury,
- parenting, and
- industrial safety.
In particular, Applied Behavior Analysis has been found to be especially effective in working with people with developmental disabilities.
This particular workshop focuses on my work with adults with developmental disabilities and is geared toward direct care staff and other professionals who work with this population.
Participants will be provided with a detailed understanding of the characteristics and core principles of Applied Behavior Analysis. Included in the discussion will be the importance of functional assessment and comprehensive evaluation. We will discuss how all behavior should be viewed as communication and how our own behavior affects the behavior of others.
A historical review will include how behavior intervention has been used and misused over the years and how the current trend has shifted towards the use of positive behavioral supports in the development of acceptable behavior.
